國民黨總統參選人洪秀柱氣勢低迷，近日更傳出國民黨設定的目標僅45席，遠低於過半的57席。黨內核心幹部雖認為不至於，但也不諱言目前的情況是「挫咧等」。他說，立委提名至今仍未最後底定，等情勢明朗之後，對席次的估算才有意義；他坦言，國民黨要在立委大選爭取過半，只能說「要很努力」。
立法院立委總席次為113席，目前國民黨掌握65席，若想保住過半優勢，至少得拿下57席。黨內人士分析，明年國會席次勢必重新洗牌，國民黨、民進黨的立委席次呈現消長；黨內目前初步估計，力保50席應可樂觀期待。
但他也強調，國民黨有很多專注於地方服務型的參選人，民調未必能夠充分反應得出來；況且目前國民黨仍有幾個選區尚未完成提名。此外，宋楚瑜是否參選總統也都是影響朝野立委席次的變數，因此國民黨尚未精算可能當選的席次。
